14-17 September, 2009.....This was the worst week.....

I just have to say, that there is a lot of information out there on the internet about breast cancer----most of which can just pound you down if you don't know exactly what you are looking for.  And since we had no idea what we were looking for----we simply googled words like breast cancer, lymph nodes, stages, size of tumor etc., etc.,---Most of this information we didn't even know for sure until after surgery 6 weeks later---it was not a good experience.  And as helpful as some of our friends and doctors were trying to be, they would throw out even more confusing words like "poorly differentiated"---DON'T EVER look that up on the internet on its own.  The day we got the positive (which actually is negative) lab results that it was indeed cancer, we were pretty much prepared for a death sentence because of what we had read on the internet.  We spent a lot of time on our knees in tears for those few days.  But as dark as things were, I couldn't believe that my Heavenly Father was ready to take me away from my family and I thought that maybe some good things could come from this experience.

Thursday, September 17th, we met with a surgeon to discuss the results and our options.  We walked into that office practically in tears and after meeting with Dr. Price, ended up giving him a hug because he cleared up all of the confusion and gave us tons of hope.  It would be rough road of surgery, chemo, radiation followed by reconstructive surgery, but it sounded like as long as we could just get through it----everything would be all right.  Who knew we would be thrilled to hear that I probably only had stage 2 or 3 interductal breast cancer with lymph node involvement.
